Cervical Cancer - Symptoms, Causes, Types, Risk Factors, Preventions, Complications
By PACE Hospitals March 30, 2023
Cancer develops when normally functioning cells undergo mutation and multiply out of control, forming a tumour mass that can happen in any tissue. Cervical cancer treatment includes the treatment of cervical cancer and its complications. The primary difficulties encountered are pain, vaginal bleeding, rectovaginal and vesicovaginal fistulas, uraemia. Long-term infection of human papillomavirus (HPV) on the cervix can result in cancer, leading to a mass or tumour on the cervix. Both benign (non-cancerous) and malignant (cancerous) forms of tumours exist. A malignant tumour may quickly develop and metastasize (spread) to other organs if left untreated. When a tumour is considered benign, it might still grow but will not metastasize.

Cervical cancer is a type of cancer that begins in the cervix - the lower section of the uterus that connects to the vagina. It usually develops slowly and is most often caused by long-term infection with certain high-risk types of human papillomavirus (HPV). While early stages may not show clear signs, later symptoms can include abnormal vaginal bleeding, pelvic pain, or unusual discharge. Regular screening with Pap smears and HPV testing, along with HPV vaccination, is highly effective in preventing cervical cancer.

In this video, Dr. Ramesh Parimi, a leading oncologist, explains the key causes of cervical cancer, early warning symptoms, and how the disease progresses through various stages. He also shares simple and advanced treatment options, including surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, and newer targeted therapies, and highlights the importance of early diagnosis for better outcomes. This video aims to raise cervical cancer awareness and help women take proactive steps to protect their health.
