Listen to
Membranous Nephropathy is a kidney condition in which the tiny filtering units of the kidneys, called glomeruli, become damaged due to thickening of their membranes, leading to protein leakage into the Urine. This condition may occur on its own or be associated with autoimmune diseases, infections, certain medications, or underlying cancers. Swelling around the eyes or in the legs, tiredness, and foamy Urine are common signs. Early evaluation with blood tests, urine tests, and a kidney biopsy helps prevent progression and protect kidney function.
Treatment focuses on reducing protein loss in the Urine, controlling swelling and blood pressure, treating the underlying cause if identified, and protecting kidney function through medications and supportive care. In this episode of the Membranous Nephropathy podcast, we will explore what it is, its causes, symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment options.
