COVID - 19 Treatment Facility in Hyderabad | Pace Hospitals

Pace Hospitals

We Pace Hospitals, a super speciality hospitals in Hyderabad, Telangana; is providing treatment to moderate and severely affected Coronavirus (COVID-19) positive patients at our facility in Hitech City, Hyderabad.

During March 2020, after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announces lockdown of India for 21 days on March 24, 2020 due to the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic that has put tremendous pressure on the healthcare facility to provide quality services and save lives of critically affected patients. Government of Telangana health department under supervision of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) in Hyderabad assigned the task to Govt hospitals, simultaneously gave permission to list of private hospitals in Hyderabad for Covid treatment  to overcome from the pandemic situation and treat the patients.

Corporate hospitals also have to fulfil the high expectations from the general population due to superior infrastructure and have a capacity to handle critical care patients. Keeping in view of healthcare need for the public and provide utmost quality care we completely transformed our super speciality facility that provides critical care services from moderate to severe Covid-19 positive patients and aligned all our clinical, non-clinical staff and infrastructure to meet general population expectations from patients during the time of the pandemic.

During the transition we faced a lot of challenges in revamping infrastructure and patients wards, mentally preparing bedside healthcare staff like nurses and other paramedics. We devoted a lot of time to encouraging, teaching and making our medical and non-medical staff mentally strong. They have continued to provide great service to patients.

Keeping in the view of the World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines and trustworthy guidance that is comprehensive and holistic for the optimal care of COVID-19 patients, throughout their entire illness. We created our own clinical protocols and standards to treat Covid-19 patients. We strictly implemented the WHO guideline now also includes Best Practice Statement on caring for COVID-19 patients after their acute illness with new recommendations.

We Pace Hospitals, are treating COVID-19 positive patients coming from Warangal, Nizamabad, Mahabubnagar, Kurnool, Gulbarga, Guntur, Khammam, Kamareddy, Adilabad, Nirmal, Nalgonda, Mancherial, Kaddappa, Latur, Nanded, Bhodan, Bidar, Gulbarga at our branch Hitech City, Hyderabad situated near Hitech City Metro Station.

Beds Capacity

We successfully treated more than 25,000 from moderate to severe Covid-19 positive patients. We are offering nearly 45 critical care beds for Covid-19 patients at our facility in Hitech City, Hyderabad. Apart from that, there are 150 beds for patients with symptoms who can’t be isolated at home and need medical assistance.

We realized that this pandemic was going to create chaos in general public due to issue of shortage of beds in Hyderabad and had to convert the ICU facility allocated for critically ill and surgical intervention patients into special COVID-19 ICUs to treat severally ill patients. We asked and convinced our super specialist doctors from other disciplines to handle and take care of the patients because our utmost priority was to save lives.

Critically affected cases may develop multiple health complications and there is a need to have immediate access to medical attention from all specilaities. Apart from pulmonologist and physicians, doctors from other disciplines too are involved to overcome the pandemic situation.

We have started administering Antibody cocktail drug (Casirivimab and Imdevimab) to treat COVID-19 patients having mild to moderate symptoms and who are at high risk of developing severe symptoms.

online doctors consultation - Pace Hospitals

The pandemic also forced patients to quickly adapt to online doctor consultation over video or phone. This is an advantage for the patients those who need not be checked physically, for other medical needs. This way they actually are in a safe position not to physically visit the hospital and meet the doctor. We all should implement this for future practice so that all other patients from rural areas and those who can’t visit hospitals will be monitored and treated by a super specialist.

We Pace Hospitals recommend all to stay home if you are not feeling well. If you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical attention and call in advance. We Pace Hospitals recommend home care if you or someone in your family:

  • has flu symptoms (like a fever, cough, and sore throat)

Third Wave of COVID-19

On 15 July 2021, WHO warned globally cases of Delta variant of SARS-CoV-2 are increasing, further Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization mentioned "We are currently at early stage of third wave. Delta variant of SARS-CoV-2 is now in more than 100 countries and will soon dominate the COVID-19 variants spreaded worldwide."

In INDIA during second wave due to strict lockdown in several states COVID-19 infection spread rates came down from 4 Lakhs cases per day to 40,000 cases per day. In July 2021 Several states eased the lockdown, simultaneously urged people to follow COVID protocols and avoid mass gathering. In spite of knowing the outcome of second wave people are not following COVID appropriate behaviours like wearing mask, maintain social distancing and hand hygiene, this will lead to once again pandemic situation due to sudden increase in the cases.

Current surge of COVID-19 cases in Hyderabad, Government Hospitals and Private Hospitals reported increase in patients admission for COVID treatment with oxygen beds requirements. Further Government of Telangana health department mentioned "There is new spike of COVID-19 cases in Hyderabad and soon the beds with oxygen requirements will begin to fill up, to avoid this all should follow COVID protocols and get vaccinated"

COVID appropriate behaviours and aggressive vaccination can only help to avoid going into mass destruction due to third wave of COVID-19 in India.

Second Wave of COVID-19

COVID-19 positive cases in Hyderabad, likely to increase by May 2021. According to serosurveillance (provides estimates of antibody levels against infectious diseases and is considered the gold standard for measuring population immunity due to past infection or vaccination) people might develop herd immunity against the virus. In spite of vaccine drive and a lot of self safety education; there is an increase in the number of infected cases in Greater Hyderabad. If this continues to rise then we can see the same situation back to what it was like June and July 2020.

As per the latest update, second wave of COVID-19 could last up to mid of July 2021. Lockdown period is very crucial for everyone, this can lower down the infection spread rates. If everyone follows the strict precaution measures, second wave can end fast by end of June 2021.

Second wave of coronavirus reported 3 new infection 1. Black Fungus Infection (Mucormycosis), 2. White Fungus Infection (Aspergillosis), 3. Yellow Fungus Infection that raised the concern to healthcare system. Simultaneously reporting 3 new modified symptoms apart from other common symptoms. 1. Pink Eye (Conjunctivitis), 2. Hearing Impairment, 3. Impact the upper respiratory tract. People with mild symptoms who are otherwise feeling healthy should self-isolate and seek a medical support.

We recommend home isolation treatment if anyone is having coronavirus symptoms. We have started online doctor consultation to help COVID positive patients to recover while in home quarantine.

General advice to the public

We observed that the young age group population are under the misconception that nothing will happen to them if they tested positive for COVID-19. They have to keep in mind they can spread this virus to their friends, parents and other persons as well. There are many incidence happened when young people died because of this, so don’t take Coronavirus (COVID-19) lightly.

There are some essential things that general public must keep in mind and hopefully might have learnt from this pandemic.

  • The virus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person, between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet).
  • Through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs, sneezes or talks.
  • These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs.
  • Some recent studies have suggested that COVID-19 may be spread by people who are not showing symptoms.

The three very important things everyone should follow. These are the best practice to prevent and avoid being exposed to the virus -

  • Maintain physical distancing (about 6 feet)
  • Wearing masks
  • Follow hand hygiene technique (Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds especially after you have been in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Cover all surfaces of your hands and rub them together until they feel dry. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.).
