Cholesterol is a fatty substance that found in every cell of your body. It plays a crucial role in developing cell membranes, producing hormones, and synthesizing vitamin D. However, excessive amount of cholesterol can lead to health problems, mainly when it builds up in your arteries, causing them to narrow and increase the threat of stroke and heart disease.

Cholesterol is transported to the bloodstream by two main categories of lipoproteins: LDL (low-density lipoprotein), often referred to as "bad cholesterol," which can Supply plaque buildup in the arteries, and HDL (high-density lipoprotein), called "good cholesterol," which helps remove excess cholesterol from the bloodstream. In this episode of the Cholesterol podcast, we will explore what cholesterol is, its different types, the distinction between good and bad cholesterol, associated risk factors, and the latest treatment approaches.
