Understanding Stomach Cancer: From Early Signs to Advanced Stages
PACE Hospitals
Listen to
Stomach cancer occurs when abnormal cells grow in the stomach lining, often without noticeable symptoms in the early stages. Indigestion, discomfort in the upper abdomen, early fullness, weight loss and nausea are examples of symptoms that are typically disregarded, which causes a delayed diagnosis. H. pylori infection, smoking, unhealthy diet, obesity, and family history are risk factors.
Endoscopies, Imaging studies and biopsies are typically used to make the diagnosis. Depending on the stage, treatment options include radiation, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and surgery. Improving results is primarily dependent on early identification and good lifestyle choices.
