Overview

Dolo-650 medicine comes under non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) class, it helps in reducing pain, fever, and in higher doses, reduces inflammation.


Dolo 650 tablet has antipyretic substance that reduces fever. Due to antipyretics the hypothalamus override a prostaglandin-induced increase in temperature that help in lowering down the body temperature resulting in reduction in fever.


Due to potential or actual injury, diseases or tissue damage, body form certain chemicals that are responsible for pain and send signals to brain about unpleasant feeling through peripheral nervous system. Dolo 650 tablet has analgesic substance that block formation of these pain responsible chemicals, resulting in the reduction in pain experienced by a person.

Dolo-650 tablet is a very common medicine and often prescribed alone or with one or two medicine to relieve symptoms of fever, nerve pain, and pain during periods, backache, toothache, sore throat, muscle aches, strains and sprains, common colds, migraine, long-term mild to moderate pain, inflammation due to arthritis etc.

Guidelines for Dolo 650 tablet usage:


  • Always take medicine with small amount of water before or after food
  • Always a person should take Dolo 650 medicine within prescribed dosage recommended by primary care physician
  • In case of missed or forgotten dosage, don’t overdose to cover up the missed dosage.
  • Person should not stop Dolo 650 as per their choice, follow the prescription advised by primary care doctor 

Dolo 650 Side Effects

Generally, it is observed that Dolo 650 tablet doesn’t cause any side effects. However, in some cases, these are some common side effects experienced by a person.


  • Stomach pain, indigestion
  • Malaise (sense of not feeling well, with diffuse pain, fatigue or lack of interest in activities)
  • Nausea, vomiting
  • Low blood pressure
  • Dizziness, drowsiness
  • Diarrhoea etc.

Very rarely, Dolo 650 may cause some serious side effects, it may include:


  • Partial or complete collapse of the lung (Atelectasis), reduced lung function
  • Abnormal liver function, liver damage
  • Skin rashes
  • Increased heartbeat
  • Temporary difficult to speak or breathe (Spasm of the Larynx)
  • Swelling of face, lips, tongue and/or throat
  • Trouble breathing and suffocation (Angioedema of Larynx)
  • Shortness of breath, wheezing
  • Abnormal Nervous system
  • Low platelets counts
  • Decreased white blood cells counts

Dolo 650 Dosage

Your primary care doctor will prescribe Dolo medicine based on your age and weight. Most of the cases physician will recommend 650mg every 4 or 6 hourly for adults. As per initial guidelines 4000 mg was the maximum allowed dosage in a day, now this has been revised to 2600 mg in a day.


As per new guidelines by Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) - Central Drugs Standard Control Organization of the Government of India, adult patients can take maximum 2600 mg of Dolo 650 tablet in a day, every 4 to 6 hourly under the medical supervision.

Dolo 650 medicine interactions with foods, drugs and diseases

If a person is having any of these conditions or problems such as allergic skin problems, kidney disease, heart disease, a low sodium level in the body, liver disease, breathing problems, heavy alcohol consumption, persistent headache alcoholic drinkers should consult before taking Dolo-650 tablet for their medical condition.


  • Food interactions - avoid consuming alcohol and foods containing alcohol, caffeinated food and beverages such as tea, coffee, cola or chocolate.
  • Drug interactions - If a person is on certain medications such as blood thinners (warfarin), aspirin, cholestyramine, ibuprofen, muscle relaxer (tizanidine), and anti-nausea agents (domperidone or metoclopramide) should avoid taking Dolo 650.
  • Disease interactions - Person with alcoholism, liver disease, chronic kidney disease, IBD, pancreatitis, peptic ulcer, ulcerative colitis, coronary artery disease, and cardiac conditions should use the medication under the supervision of doctor.

Expiration date of paracetamol Dolo 650

Paracetamol Dolo 650 has expiry of 3 years 10 months from the date of manufacturing. You can see the backside of Dolo 650 Tablet 15's strip for expiration date. It is always advised to check expiry date when buying or taking medicines to avoid adverse effects.

Storage 

Dolo 650 should be stored in a dry and dark place under room temperature not exceeding 30ºC. Keep medicine away from heat, open air and direct sunlight, It can have harmful effects to the body.

There is no such limitation. Dolo 650 can be taken for two days or three days or four days. It is a medicine to treat the underlying symptoms of the disease, but not to treat the disease. When the patient has fever or pain the Dolo can be taken under medical supervision.

Can feeding mother take dolo-650?

Feeding mother can use the dolo-650, there is no evidence that it will harm baby.

Is it safe to take a Dolo 650 tablet after getting a covid-19 vaccine?

It is absolutely safe to take a Dolo 650 tablet after getting a COVID-19 vaccine when a person developed mild symptoms like body pain, fever, headache etc.
