It is caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which spreads through the air when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or even talks. Common symptoms of TB include persistent cough, chest pain, fever, night sweats, and weight loss. Treatment typically involves a long course of antibiotics, often lasting six months or more. Early diagnosis and adherence to prescribed medication are crucial for effective treatment and preventing the spread of the disease.
