    • Trypsin plus Chymotrypsin: 1,00,000 armour units' enzymatic activity.
    • (Trypsin and Chymotrypsin are present in a ratio of approximately 6:1).

    Chymotrypsin:

    • The chemical name of chymotrypsin is 4-[[2-[[2-[[1-(4-nitro aniline)-1-oxo-3-phenylpropan-2-yl] amino]-2-oxoethyl] amino]-2-oxoethyl] amino]-4-oxobutanoic acid.
    • The molecular formula of chymotrypsin is C23H25N5O8.

Chymoral forte tablet are used to treat soft tissue injuries, fractures, dislocations, sprains, and strains. They are also used for post-operative wounds, oedema, abdominal hysterectomy, pelvic inflammatory disease, haematoma, episiotomy, tooth extraction, peri-apical abscess, and maxillofacial surgery.

Overview of Chymoral forte

  • The Chymoral forte tablet contains a combination of trypsin and chymotrypsin.
  • Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd manufactures the Chymoral forte tablet.
  • In the digestive tract of mammals, trypsin is a proteolytic enzyme that occurs naturally. Serine protease, known as trypsin, is crucial for the breakdown and absorption of proteins in mammals.
  • Chymotrypsin is produced in the pancreas and is crucial for the breakdown of proteins and polypeptides, which is known as proteolysis. To treat the side effects caused by conventional chemotherapy, radiation, and hormone therapy, chymotrypsin, a digestive enzyme supplement, is used as supportive therapy.

Chymoral forte tablet uses

  • Take it in regular time intervals daily to get a better result.
  • Do not take two doses at the same time, as it leads to adverse events.
  • In case of a missed dose (due to forgetfulness etc.), the missed dose must be taken immediately as and when it is remembered, but if it is close to the next dosing schedule, skip it and go for the next dose.
  • Follow the treatment chart as directed by the physician.

Chymoral forte mechanism of action

  • The digestive enzymes that break down lipids (lipases), starch (amylases), and proteins (proteases) are synthesised and produced by the pancreatic cells. The structure and catalytic effect of the various kinds of pancreatic proteases interacting with the protein's peptide bonds varies from one another.
  • The two types of proteases known as trypsin and chymotrypsin were initially produced in the pancreas from the inactive zymogen precursors trypsinogen and chymotrypsinogen to inhibit unwanted cellular activity and regulate when and where enzyme activity occurs. Zymogens are subsequently transported into the bloodstream or the intestines, where they are either expelled or transformed into digestively active enzymes through proteolysis. The active proteolytic enzymes are increased when trypsin and chymotrypsin are combined.

Chymoral forte indications

Chymoral forte is indicated to treat:

  • Caesarean section (the surgical procedure by which a baby is delivered)
  • Episiotomy (a cut made in the tissue between the vaginal opening and the anus)
  • Abdominal hysterectomy (surgery for removal of the uterus)
  • Tooth extraction (removal of the tooth)
  • A peri-apical abscess (pus in the tooth)
  • Maxillofacial surgery (reconstructive surgery of the face)
  • Post-traumatic oedema (swelling due to trauma)
  • Soft tissue injury
  • Fractures (breaks or cracks in the bones) and dislocations (bones moving from their original places)

FAQs (frequently asked questions on chymoral forte)

  • Is Chymoral forte safe?

Yes, Chymoral forte is safe when administered in prescribed doses for healthy adults. It should not be used in renal, liver impairment patients and people with high vitreous pressure and hypersensitivity. Caution is needed in cardiac patients.

  • Is Chymoral forte a painkiller?

Yes, Chymoral forte treats pain and reduces swelling in conditions such as soft tissue injuries, fractures, dislocations, sprains, and strains. It is also used for post-operative wounds, oedema, haematoma, pelvic inflammatory disease, episiotomy, abdominal hysterectomy, tooth extraction, peri-apical abscess, and maxillofacial surgery.

  • How to take Chymoral forte?

Chymoral forte tablet is usually taken four times per day, half an hour before a meal or as prescribed by the physician. The complete tablet should be swallowed to preserve the enteric coating. Do not chew or crush the tablet.

  • Is Chymoral forte safe in pregnancy?

There is no official data regarding the use of Chymoral forte usage in pregnant women, but seeking medical advice is important regarding this medicine. Do not take this medicine in pregnant women without a physician's advice.

  • Is Chymoral forte an antibiotic?

No, Chymoral forte is not an antibiotic. Chymoral forte contains the proteolytic enzymes trypsin and chymotrypsin, which reduce pain and swelling in traumatic injuries and surgeries. It has biological activities such as anti-inflammatory (reduces redness and pain), anti-oedematous (reduces swelling), fibrinolytic (dissolves blood clots), antioxidant (inhibits oxidation), and anti-infective (reduces infection) properties.

  • What is the difference between Chymoral Forte and Chymoral Plus?

Tab Chymoral forte contains trypsin and chymotrypsin as ingredients, whereas Chymoral forte plus tablet contains diclofenac, trypsin, and chymotrypsin.

  • What is Chymoral forte medicine used for?

Chymoral forte tablets may be utilised for post-operative wounds, oedema, haematoma, pelvic inflammatory disease, episiotomy, abdominal hysterectomy, tooth extraction, peri-apical abscess, and maxillofacial surgery. They are used to treat soft tissue injuries, fractures, dislocations, sprains, and strains, as well as to reduce pain and swelling.

Besides having anti-oedematous characteristics, Chymoral forte has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and fibrinolytic effects.

  • Is Chymoral forte for wound healing?

Yes, Chymoral forte is also indicated for wound healing. The body's natural fibrinolytic agent (dissolves blood clot), plasmin, dissolves the fibrin barrier once fibrin clots stop bleeding. The fibrin barrier is broken down by chymotrypsin and trypsin working together to improve and restore circulation, treat oedema, haematoma, and discomfort, and encourage phagocytosis (cellular process for eliminating the cells) to clear away debris and enhance recovery.

According to a few studies, the chymotrypsin-trypsin combination regulates the inflammatory process. As a result, the trypsin-chymotrypsin combination lowers the levels of pro-inflammatory mediators and speeds up the healing process.

  • Does Chymoral forte make you sleepy?

No, the Chymoral forte itself doesn't cause any drowsiness or sedation. Taking Alcohol with a Chymoral forte may cause drowsiness and sleepiness.

  • Is Chymoral forte safe for liver?

Usually, Chymoral forte is not recommended for patients with severe liver disease (hepatotoxicity). It is suggested only for individuals with a healthy liver.
